Invaders shoot 2 captured Ukrainian soldiers near Selydove - Prosecutor General's Office

On October 18, the russian military shot dead two captured Ukrainian soldiers near the city of Selydove (Donetsk Region), an investigation has been launched.

The Prosecutor General's Office announced this on its Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to operational data, on October 18 at 2:38 p.m., representatives of the russian army captured two Ukrainian servicemen in the Pokrovsk District.

"The occupiers, who stormed the plantation near the town of Selydove, put the unarmed prisoners of war face down. They kept them in this position, pressing their feet to the ground, and after some time they shot them at close range with automatic weapons," the report says.

Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code).

The Prosecutor General's Office emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin said that the number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the occupiers has increased over the past year.

According to him, torture and executions without trial and investigation are used as weapons of war, intimidation and destruction.
