Zelenskyy regarding mobilization of 18-year-olds: there are no such plans today

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the leadership of Ukraine currently has no plans to lower the mobilization age, in particular to 18 years.

Zelenskyy said this in an interview for the telethon, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Today's plans for mobilization since 18 years old, what someone says - there are a lot of various informational throws and this is a big problem in general. That's why there are no such plans today," he said.

He noted that some partners would like the mobilization age to be lowered in Ukraine, but he does not yet consider it expedient.

Zelenskyy added that today, men under the age of 25 can join military service under a contract if they wish.

"Partners would like the age to be reduced. We have mobilization from the age of 25 and we still do not see why these changes should be introduced. I believe that it is dangerous today. There is a tool for this - the Ministry of Defense has contracts and there is an opportunity to conclude contract at own free will," the President noted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Serhii Leshchenko, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, said earlier that Zelenskyy is under pressure from American politicians, who are urging him to lower the conscription age and start mobilizing 18-year-olds.
