To introduce responsibility for top officials. Rada reacts to consequences of Nayyem's work at State Agency

Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, deputy chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management Olena Kryvoruchkina proposes to introduce an institute of responsibility for top officials

She said this in an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency.

"The Nayyem’s case is just one example of a big problem that I want to draw attention to. We like to talk about the "reputation institute", but it doesn't work. How many scandals have we had, when someone is fired for inefficiency, for bad work and for all. No responsibility, although the price of such work is inefficiently spent budget funds. And after a certain time, this person appears again in some structure and disposes of state money again," she said about the situation with water supply in the Kryvyi Rih area due to the actions of the State Agency for Recovery.

Kryvoruchkina believes that in Ukraine it is necessary to rebuild the institution of responsibility of top officials and top managers, who work for the state.

Also, in her opinion, reporting should have been introduced for top officials according to the set goals and objectives.

"Every person, who has such a position, must clearly understand that he is accountable. And it is necessary that such reports are not an empty formality, so that there is always responsibility for poor quality work. If it was an evil intention, then criminal liability, according to the current legislation, if it's just a lack of competence, then such a person should not hold such positions. There should be questions to those who appointed him there. Then the system will work," she added.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, Olena Kryvoruchkina, addressed the former head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, Mustafa Nayyem, with criticism against the background of his announcement of the start of work in the American-British anti-corruption project.
