Ex-candidate for mayor Dmytro Shevchyk found dead in Kryvyi Rih
On October 8, Dmytro Shevchyk, a 47-year-old candidate for the position of mayor and former director general of the Central Mining and Processing Plant, was found dead in Kryvyi Rih.
This was reported by the Suspilne publication.
The police report the death of a man at one of the recreation centers in the Kryvorizkyi district. Law enforcement officers of the Kryvorizkyi District Police Directorate, a forensic laboratory, a mobile forensic laboratory of the Scientific Research Expert Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and a forensic medical expert worked at the site.
Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the preliminary additional qualification "suicide."
The police have not announced the identity of the deceased, but according to Suspilne, it was Dmytro Shevchyk.
According to the Svoi publication, the man could shorten his life by shooting himself with a Saiga carbine.
In 2015, Dmytro Shevchyk was elected a member of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council from the Opposition Bloc party. In 2020, Dmytro Shevchyk ran for mayor of Kryvyi Rih from the Servant of the People party.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 3, 2020, a Volkswagen driver hit an 11-year-old child at a pedestrian crossing in Kryvyi Rih. The driver of the car was the son of Kryvyi Rih mayoral candidate Dmytro Shevchyk.
