We will refrain from emissions as much as possible. Hetmantsev against printing hryvnia

Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev opposes the issuance of the hryvnia.

He said this in an interview with the Ukrainian News agency.

"When the prime minister talks about moderate emissions, I cannot support him in the full sense, because where it is moderate and where it is excessive, again, is established empirically, and sometimes, regardless of, unfortunately, who makes a decision about this issue. That's why I believe that it should be avoided as much as possible," Hetmantsev believes.

According to him, the budget emission and the inflation generated by it is a tax on people with low incomes and socially vulnerable citizens who have incomes in hryvnias.

"This is a tax on everyone who receives social benefits, state employees, employees, in general, everyone who receives hryvnia income. We will refrain from this as much as possible, because it is the worst possible scenario," he said about the issuance of the hryvnia.

The head of the finance committee noted that moderate emission, which does not carry inflationary risks, occurs constantly.

"Currently, the main channel is currency, when the currency received as international aid is converted into a new hryvnia to finance the budget deficit. But the money that is emitted is absorbed through the same deposit certificates, the sale of NBU currency in the interbank or other instruments, which the National Bank has," he explained.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Hetmantsev said that the authorities are not considering hryvnia issuance or devaluation as an alternative to raising taxes.
