Italy not allowing AFU to hit russia with its weapons and has no intention of changing its position
Italy did not allow Ukraine to use Italian weapons to launch strikes on the territory of russia and does not intend to change its position on this issue.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani made a corresponding statement in an interview with Corriere della Sera.
"We are with Ukraine <...> But we are not in a state of war with Russia <...> We must be serious, avoiding any possible escalation. And we have been doing this from the very first day," Tajani said.
The minister emphasized that Italy supports Ukraine and does so "without any buts and ifs."
According to him, Rome provides military, political and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv. He recalled that the country had received nine Italian aid packages since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Tajani added that Italy is also working on holding a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is scheduled for 2025.
Recall that on August 26, the aggressor country russia carried out one of the most massive attacks on Ukraine, using more than 200 missiles and drones at once.
Against this background, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, called for the lifting of restrictions on Ukraine that prevent it from using Western weapons to attack the russian federation.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on August 28, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that Washington had not lifted Ukraine's restrictions on strikes on russian territory.
And on August 29, it became known that the Netherlands, which supplied Ukraine with the first F-16 fighter jets, did not impose any restrictions on Kyiv's use of aircraft for strikes against russia.
