Energy Commission simplifies procedure for installing generating units
The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (Energy Commission) has adopted a decision that, during the period of martial law in Ukraine, will simplify and speed up the procedure for installing generating units (gas turbine, gas piston, cogeneration, etc.), both new and those that have been in use.
This is stated in the message of the commission, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In particular, the following changes are expected to be made to the procedure for granting derogations (exemptions) from the fulfillment of certain requirements of the Code of Transmission Systems for generating plants:
- to significantly reduce the terms of processing the request for exemption by both system operators and the Energy Commission;
- to remove requirements for cost-benefit analysis;
- to grant concessions based on the results of joint consultations of the Energy Commission, the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision, the transmission system operator (TSO), the distribution system operators (DSO) and the owner (user) of the generating unit.
It is noted that this decision is important and relevant in view of the need to increase the number of available generating capacities in a short period of time to cover the capacity deficit in the energy system of Ukraine and ensure reliable electricity supply to consumers and critical infrastructure facilities, especially in the autumn-winter period.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May, the Energy Commission simplified the connection of generating units to electric grids.
