Energoatom launches another 1,000 MW NPP power unit ahead of schedule
On August 23, the Energoatom national nuclear power generating company put into operation a power unit of one of the nuclear power plants (NPPs) ahead of schedule after planned maintenance, which will add 1,000 MW of power and stability to the power system and will allow not to apply power supply restrictions for consumers.
The Ministry of Energy has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Energy workers are really doing incredible things in this difficult situation so that we remain with light and heat. Now ahead of schedule, but in compliance with all safety standards, another nuclear unit has come out of scheduled repair and maintenance. Its connection will help balance the country's power system and avoid electricity restrictions," Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the situation in the energy sector stabilized thanks to the early completion of maintenance at two units of nuclear power plants and a drop in air temperature.
