The company's message states that after the explosion of the Kakhovka HEPP dam, Ukrhydroenergo initiated arbitration proceedings against russia.

"In March 2024, an official notification was sent to the government and other officials of russia about the resolution of the dispute in accordance with the agreement between the governments of Ukraine and russia on the mutual protection of investments. As can be seen from the practice of resolving similar disputes, the consideration of this case will last for many years, and that is why the company expects to receive a reliable and professional partner with whom this difficult but very important process will be confidently carried out, which, among other things, is necessary for bringing to justice the persons responsible for this disaster," the message reads.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrhydroenergo filed a lawsuit against the russian federation for compensation of USD 2.5 billion in damages caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka HEPP.

On June 6, 2023, russian invaders blew up the Kakhovka HEPP dam, resulting in human casualties, lost homes, and severe environmental consequences.
