The Ministry of Health proposes that a registered partner should not be equated with close relatives for the purposes of the Civil Code, it is necessary, in the opinion of the agency, to define "registered partners" in the definition of terms for the purposes of the bill.

The Ombudsman suggests that the norms proposed by the bill, which determine the legal and organizational foundations of registered partnerships, legal status, personal non-property and property rights and obligations of registered partners, the procedure and consequences of state registration and the procedure for terminating a registered partnership, should be included in a separate section of the Family Code.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice changed their positions and supported the bill on registered partnerships, including partnerships of same-sex couples.

On May 9, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, Inna Sovsun, said that she is confident in the parliament's approval of the bill on same-sex partnerships.
