New UK Chief of General Staff says British army has 3 years to prepare for war
The new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom Sir Roly Walker said that the British army must be ready for an armed conflict with russia, China, Iran and North Korea in the next three years.
Walker made the corresponding statement at a briefing with journalists on the sidelines of the annual army conference, his words are quoted by Sky News.
According to him, the russian dictator vladimir putin will be very dangerous and hungry for revenge after the end of the war between russia and Ukraine.
Walker believes that regardless of the outcome of the current war, russia will want to take revenge on Western countries, including the UK, for the help they provided to Ukraine.
He also warned about the possibility of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Iran's desire to develop nuclear weapons and the threat from North Korea.
"That is why you get to this point by... 2027-2028 this convergence may have reached some sort of mutual singularity and your ability to deal with them in isolation - a specific crisis that can be managed by the rules based system - I think is significantly diminished," said Walker.
In view of these threats, the general said, the British Army urgently needed to restore its ability to deter future wars with credible combat power.
He emphasized that the Army will lose if it clings to old ideas about warfare instead of adapting to new technologies.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 26, the British business newspaper Financial Times published an article in which it is said that European NATO countries have a catastrophic shortage of military personnel.
Recall that in April, the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, stated that the deficit of the European defense industry is EUR 56 billion.
