Rada strengthens responsibility for petty theft

The Verkhovna Rada increased responsibility for petty theft of other people's property and regulation of some other issues of law enforcement agencies. A total of 243 MPs voted for bill 11068 with the minimum required of 226.

Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Holos faction, announced this in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Liability for petty theft of someone else's property, committed by theft, fraud, appropriation or embezzlement, if the value of such property does not exceed 0.5 of the tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 8.5), in the form of a fine in the amount from 50 to 100 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 850 - 1,700).

At the same time, liability is assumed for petty theft of someone else's property, if the value of such property is from 0.5 to 2 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (from UAH 8.5 to UAH 34) in the form of a fine in the amount from 100 to 300 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 1,700 - 5,100).

Repeated violations within a year will entail liability in the form of a fine in the amount from 300 to 600 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 5,100 - 10,200).

Liability for petty theft of someone else's property by a person who was subject to administrative penalty for theft of someone else's property three or more times during the year was established - in the form of a fine in the amount from 600 to 1,000 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (UAH 10,200 - 17,000).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada intends to strengthen responsibility for the illegal circulation of excise goods.
