Swiss Foreign Minister informs Lavrov about Ukrainian Peace Summit
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, held a meeting with the head of the russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov.
The Swiss minister announced this on the X social network on Wednesday, July 17.
"In the context of russia's #UNSC presidency, I met with 🇷🇺 Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and informed him about the #UAPeaceSummit.pic.twitter.com/DkpG1rDvxB," wrote Ignazio Cassis.
The meeting took place in New York, where Lavrov came because of russia's presidency of the UN Security Council.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 17, the advisor to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, said that the aggressor country, russia, may be invited to the second Peace Summit.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State commented on Ukraine's idea of russia's participation in the second peace summit.
At the same time, the Kremlin's tough and uncompromising conditions for peace talks actually mean Ukraine's capitulation and testify to Vladimir Putin's reluctance to conduct honest negotiations on any terms other than russian ones.
