Ukraine needs 25 Patriot systems to completely close the skies - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that to completely close the skies of Ukraine, it is necessary to have 25 Patriot systems. At the same time, he noted that for the protection of the sky, this is not the only system that Ukraine needs, but it is the most powerful.

He announced this during a press conference.

"I can tell you how much we need Patriot, although it is not the only system that we need. The complex works in defense, because not only Patriot - Patriot alone will not be able to work. But Patriot is the most important in this generalized system, the most powerful - because nothing works with ballistics," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that he cannot directly answer the journalist's question about how many such systems Ukraine still needs, because then it will be clear how many Patriots Ukraine already has.

"I can tell you how many Patriots we need in general. From the point of view of the structure of our air defense, to completely close Ukraine, according to our military, we need 25 systems. This is a completely closed sky of Ukraine. I can't tell you how many we have, or how many will be," the President said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in his speech at the opening of the NATO summit in Washington, US President Joe Biden said that the US, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Italy will provide Ukraine with five additional strategic air defense systems, and in the coming months the US will provide Ukraine with dozens of additional air defense tactical systems.

It has already become known that the USA allocated a new aid package to Ukraine, which includes a Patriot battery, ammunition for HIMARS and NASAMS.
