Trading volume on PFTS down 3.0% to UAH 43 billion in June

In June 2024, the total volume of trading on the PFTS stock exchange amounted to UAH 43 billion (97% of the level of the previous month) or 66% of the total volume of trades of securities trading organizers in Ukraine.

This follows from a statement by the exchange, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In the first six months of 2024, the total volume of trading on the PFTS amounted to UAH 219 billion (165% of the level of the same period in 2023), or 65% of the total volume of trading by securities trading organizers in Ukraine.

In the structure of trades for June, the share of government bonds of Ukraine was 87.6% (UAH 37.5 billion), bonds of foreign countries - 5.1% (UAH 2.2 billion), swaps – 4.3% (UAH 1.8 billion), securities of collective investment institutions - 2.5% (UAH 1.1 billion), corporate bonds - 0.4% (UAH 0.2 billion), bonds of foreign issuers - 0.1% (UAH 0.04 billion) and shares of Ukrainian issuers - 0.01% (UAH 3.5 million).

12% of deals were concluded on the "application market" in June; on the "quotation market" (including address agreements) - 77% of transactions; in REPO and REPO "with risk control" modes -9% of transactions; in the mode of SWOP with risk control - 1.9% of transactions and in the mode of unilateral auctions - 0.1% of transactions.

In June 2024, a total of 42 bidders entered into agreements with 62 issues of securities (government domestic loan bonds - 42, corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 3, corporate bonds of foreign issuers – 2, bonds of foreign states – 11, securities of collective investment institutions – 2, shares of Ukrainian issuers – 1).

In the first six months of 2024, a total of 50 bidders entered into agreements with 107 issues of securities (domestic government loan bonds - 56, government foreign loan bonds – 3, corporate bonds of Ukrainian issuers - 12, bonds of foreign states - 26, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 4, securities of collective investment institutions – 3, bonds of foreign issuers – 2, shares of foreign issuers – 1).

From June 17, 2024, trading in currency swaps began in the PFTS trading system.

Agreements were concluded with currency swaps "US dollar - Ukrainian hryvnia" (ticker: USDUAH).

The total volume of trades in the specified swaps amounted to UAH 1.8 billion (4.3% of the total volume of trades).

Among the 42 issues of government domestic loan bonds with which agreements were concluded in June, 13 issues were with maturity dates in 2024 (UAH 6.9 billion), 15 issues - with maturity dates in 2025 (UAH 16.3 billion), eight issues - with maturity dates in 2026 (UAH 3.7 billion), five issues - with maturity dates in 2027 (UAH 10.4 billion), and 1 issue - with a maturity date in 2028 (UAH 0.2 billion).

From July 26, 2022, trading of government domestic loan bonds denominated in a foreign currency in the nominal currency began on the PFTS.

In June 2024, the volume of exchange contracts with domestic government loan bonds executed in the nominal currency amounted to USD 42.6 million and EUR 6.4 million (4.7% of the total trading volume).

As of July 1, 2024, the number of members of PFTS Stock Exchange JSC admitted to trading was 52: 30 banks and 22 financial companies.

A total of 368 issues of securities were admitted to trading on PFTS Stock Exchange JSC, of which 116 issues of securities were in the Exchange Register.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May 2024, the total volume of trading on the PFTS stock exchange amounted to UAH 44 billion (106% of the level of the previous month) or 60% of the total volume of trades of securities trading organizers in Ukraine.

The PFTS index has been the official index of Ukraine in S&P Emerging Markets since 1997.
