Total state debt in April sets historical record, increasing by 0.3% to USD 151.5 billion
The aggregate state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in April compared to the previous month increased by 0.3%, or by USD 0.47 billion, to USD 151.52 billion, which is a historical maximum.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
State and state-secured debt amounted to UAH 6,010.42 billion, or USD 151.52 billion, at the end of April, compared to UAH 5,924.25 billion, or USD 151.05 billion, a month earlier.
The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 5,699.54 billion (USD 143.68 billion) against UAH 5,612.55 billion (USD 143.1 billion) a month earlier.
At the same time, the direct foreign debt increased from USD 101.85 billion to USD 102.25 billion for the month.
Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,617.8 billion to UAH 1,643.48 billion (in dollar terms it increased from USD 41.25 billion to USD 41.43 billion).
The state-secured debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 310.88 billion, or USD 7.84 billion.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine's total state (direct and guaranteed) debt for 2023 increased by 30.4%, or USD 33.87 billion, to a record USD 145.32 billion.
In 2022, the total state debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.
In 2021, the state debt increased by 8.52%, or by USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.
In 2020, the total state debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
