Ukraine receives emergency aid from EU energy systems for 2nd day in row

On Thursday, May 9, at the request of Ukraine, an emergency supply of electricity was carried out from Poland, Romania and Slovakia, while the involvement of emergency aid is also expected during the hours of the evening peak of electricity consumption.

This was announced by the Ministry of Energy, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Last day, the needs of consumers were covered by own generation, commercial imports and emergency aid received from the power systems of Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The total volume of emergency supply was about 3% of the daily electricity consumption.

Also, during the daytime hours, at the request of Poland, Ukraine received surplus electricity in an emergency manner.

"Due to network restrictions on the lines of the transmission system operator, power outage schedules were applied yesterday in the Kharkiv Region and for industry in Kryvyi Rih. Restrictions in these regions are still in effect today. Also from 06:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the evening peak hours in all regions, except the Kherson Region, the restrictions of industrial consumers were applied. At the same time, the electricity supply to domestic consumers was not limited. In order to prevent overloading of the equipment of one of the high-voltage substations, the operator of the transmission system limited the production of electricity from RES from 10:35 a.m. to 4:05 p.m.,” the message said.

According to the report, the application of restrictions for industry is possible on Thursday as well.

The import of electricity in the amount of 16,699 MWh is forecast for the current day.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of May 8, russian invaders attacked energy infrastructure in six regions of Ukraine.
