Defense Ministry will cooperate with satellite company to limit shooting of territory of Ukraine
The Ministry of Defense will cooperate with one of the largest satellite companies to limit the shooting of the territory of Ukraine.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the report, representatives of the Ministry of Defense met with one of the world's largest companies in the field of satellite photography whose name was not disclosed for security reasons. It is noted that this is the only satellite company in the world that provides daily photography of the entire territory of the planet with a resolution of 3-5 meters.
One of the goals of the meeting was to discuss the mechanisms for limiting space surveys of the territory of Ukraine under martial law. Also, the Ministry of Defense plans to extend the contract with the company to order up-to-date pictures of the territory of Ukraine for defense and security purposes.
"Every day, satellite companies survey the territory of Ukraine. These images can be ordered by the enemy - through shell companies. Therefore, we are grateful to our partners for their readiness to sign a memorandum with us and jointly implement a mechanism to limit the use of pictures of our territory. This collaboration should be an example for other satellite companies. In the conditions of war, we must minimize the risks of using images of Ukraine by the enemy," said Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernohorenko.
According to her, the Ministry of Defense is already working on international regulatory mechanisms to counter the use of space intelligence in the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, Chernohorenko reported that the Ministry of Defense is preparing a mechanism to limit satellite shooting over the territory of Ukraine to reduce russia's reconnaissance space capabilities.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in August 2022, then Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said that the Defense Forces of Ukraine received qualitatively new opportunities thanks to a "people's satellite" purchased with money collected by citizens.
