Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Coal Workers of Ukraine Mykhailo Volynets has confirmed the murder of Mykola Kovaliov, chairman of the state-owned enterprise Shakhtarskantratsyt (Shakhtarsk, Donetsk Region), he has told Ukrainian News.
Volynets underlines: unknown gunmen killed Kovaliov and his wife.
"This occurred on April 18 night: he and his wife were driving from Donetsk to Shakhtarsk and the car came under fire off Zugres, near Vodobud. He and his wife were murdered," he said.
The enterprise is located in the antiterrorist operation (ATO) territory.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Shakhtarskantratsyt is managed by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
