The Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the European Union stresses responsibility of Russia for the observation of agreements reached in Minsk (Belarus), reads a joint statement of the Council after the meeting in Luxembourg.
Besides, the Council counts on observation of the item on local elections in Donetsk and Luhansk regions - they should be held, as it is envisioned by Minsk agreements: in compliance with Ukrainian legislation.
The statement also reads that holding of parliamentary and presidential elections by self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics will contradict the Minsk protocol and will render null whole progress in searching of stable political decision in this frames - therefore, the European Union will not acknowledge such elections.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on October 18, President Petro Poroshenko said that all the participants of consultations on regulation of the situation in Ukraine held in Milan (Italy) on October 17, including Russia, will not acknowledge the results of so-called "local elections" planned to be conducted by self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics in early November.
