Oleh Kalashnikov, a deputy for the Party of the Regions in the fifth parliament, was murdered in Kyiv on Wednesday evening. A relative of Kalashnikov disclosed this to Ukrainian News.
According to the relative, Kalashnikov did not travel anywhere recently and lived in Kyiv.
He was murdered near his home.
The relative also said that Kalashnikov was recently threatened with physical violence for his political views, particularly for calling for wide celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
He also received messages containing such threats.
As Ukrainian News reported, several members of the Party of Regions have recently committed suicide in Ukraine under mysterious circumstances, including former Party of the Regions MP Mykhailo Chechetov and former governor of the Zaporizhia region Oleksandr Peklushenko.
The Security Service of Ukraine investigated Kalashnikov's statements for possible threat to national security.
