Ukraine Proposes Demilitarization Of Area Surrounding Shyrokine To DPR And LPR

Ukraine has proposed demilitarization of the area surrounding Shyrokine (Donetsk region) to the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic," Daria Olifer, a spokesperson for former president (1994-2005) Leonid Kuchma, has posted on Facebook.

"Demilitarization of Shyrokine, i.e. mutual withdrawal of armed units from this population center, [has been proposed]. Presence of representatives of the OSCE mission in Shyrokine is compulsory," she wrote.

According to the post, Ukraine made this proposal during a videoconference between the Trilateral Contact Group on resolution of the Donbas conflict and representatives of the DPR and the LPR.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's special monitoring mission to Ukraine has called on the parties to the conflict in Donbas to cease fire in Shyrokine immediately.
