​Rada Abolishes Non-Aligned Status Of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada has abolished the non-aligned status of Ukraine.

A total of 303 Verkhovna Rada deputies backed respective draft law No. 1014-3 when 226 would be enough to pass the decision.

Respective amendments were introduced into the laws "On fundamentals of national security of Ukraine" and "On fundamentals of domestic and external policies."

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on December 9, the Verkhovna Rada committee for national security and defense recommended that the Parliament abolish the non-aligned status of Ukraine and resume external policy aimed at accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
