The Cabinet of Ministers has established the maximum supply and sales markups on medicines and medical devices on the National List of Essential Medicines and Medical Devices and the Mandatory Minimum Range at 10% of their wholesale prices from January 1, 2015. This is stated in the resolution No. 639 dated October 17.
These markups do not apply to narcotics, psychotropic drugs, precursors, and medical gases.
In addition, markups are established on the basis of the purchase price not exceeding the following: if the purchase price is below UAH 100, the trade (retail) markup on the purchase price will be up to 25%; if the price is from UAH 100 to UAH 300, the markup will not exceed 23%; if the price is from UAH 300 to UAH 500, the markup will be up to 20%.
The markup should not exceed 15% if the purchase price of medicines reaches UAH 500-1,000 and up to 10% if the purchase price is more than UAH 1,000.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft resolution of the Ministry of Health that creates equal pricing conditions for domestic and foreign medicines and introduces state regulation of prices of medicines.
