​Poroshenko Announces Release Of 1,300 Prisoners Of War

Poroshenko made the announcement during a working visit to the Lviv region.

(Ukrainian News, Stepan Smyshliaev, 10/03/2014) President Petro Poroshenko has announced the release of 1,342 prisoners of war.

Poroshenko made the announcement during a working visit to the Lviv region.

"We have freed 1,342 prisoners of war, who were abused and tortured," said the president.

At the same time, Poroshenko said that about 500 people remain in the captivity of separatists.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, according to Poroshenko, separatists had freed 1,200 Ukrainian troops as of September 25.
