Naftogaz May Quadruple Prices Of Gas For Households Even This Year

Opinion polls suggest that the population is ready to pay four times under the conditions of war.

The Naftogaz of Ukraine national joint-stock company says it is not improbable that prices of gas for households will quadruple (to match the production sector level) even this year, Naftogaz Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Oleksandr Todiichuk has announced at an energy forum.

He admits that the question of uplifting the price for the population is hard in view of the coming elections.

In his words, opinion polls suggest that the population is ready to pay four times under the conditions of war provided for reforming the energy sector and transparency its operations.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Electricity Regulatory Commission of Ukraine raised ceiling prices for gas for industrial consumers by 3.18% or UAH 150 to UAH 4,824 for 1,000 cubic metres (excluding VAT, targeted surcharge on the approved gas tariff, transport costs, gas distribution and supply at the regulated tariff) as of September 1.
