Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov accuses Russia and the gangs under its control of attempts to frustrate realisation of the plan of peaceful settlement in the east of Ukraine, reads a statement made by Speaker's press service.
On Thursday, in frames of a visit to Oslo, Norway Turchynov had a meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Anne Brasseur, during which the parties discussed the situation in Ukraine and Russia's actions.
"Russia's goal is not peace in Ukraine but destabilisation of the situation; and today there is a possibility to stop aggression. And that is why it is important not to hold up pressure on Russia until all Russian Federation's weapons and military have been removed from Ukraine's territory, until provocations and shelling of our territory have desisted, and until tough control on the Ukraine/Russia border has been restored," said Speaker.
He also pointed to the importance of continuing work of international monitoring missions in Ukraine.
Turchynov pronounced confidence that the snap parliamentary election would be fair and transparent, without using administrative pressure.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Petro Poroshenko accuses terrorists of provocations during the ceasefire.
