President Petro Poroshenko has awarded Semen Semenchenko, the commander of the Donbas volunteer battalion the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi (Third Class), Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said during his visit to Dnipropetrovsk Mechnykov regional hospital.
The award handed out by Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk and Avakov was presented for personal courage.
In addition, Avakov has given the Excellence in Service decoration to Volodymyr Parasiuk, the commander of the Dnipro-1 volunteer battalion squadron.
Semenchenko removed his balaclava in front of the cameras and explained that he previously needed to wear it because of concern for the fate of his loved ones in the Russian-annexed Crimea.
The major explained that he decided to remove the balaclava because he had no doubt of victory.
According to Semenchenko, the second stage of the war, in which all forces must come together, is now approaching.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Petro Poroshenko is expected to make reshuffles after having analyzed the events in the anti-terrorist operation area on August 25-31.
