Sixteen troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry and National Guard special assignment battalions were killed on August 20 in the battles for Ilovaisk, Donetsk Region in the anti-terror operation (ATO), Anton Heraschenko, an adviser to the interior affairs minister, wrote on Facebook. "...16 of the 64 troops were killed at Ilovaisk or 25% of all Internal Ministry and National Guard special battalions fighters killed in the ATO," he said. In particular, eight soldiers of battalion Donbas were killed and 12 wounded, two of battalion Azov killed and seven wounded, four of battalion Shakhtarsk killed and 16 wounded, two of battalion Dnipro killed and seven wounded. Heraschenko notes, of the 10 infantry combat vehicles the Armed Forces has handed over only five remain and those are almost without ammunition load. The minister's adviser is proposing to immediately enhance disposition of our artillery and raise density of fire to suppress terrorists' attempts to receive backup. He also finds it necessary to redeploy five or seven tanks to Ilovaisk and the same number of armoured personnel carriers or infantry combat vehicles to cover the volunteer units' infantry acting on the offensive. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on August 20 the National Guard said Ukrainian security agencies had regained control over Ilovaisk but terrorists' countercharges continued.
