Foreign Ministry: 245 Ukrainian Servicemen Staying In Military Camp Near Gukovo Checkpoint In Russia

According to the Ministry, they are being interrogated by secret service officers.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says 245 Ukrainian servicemen are staying in a military camp near the Gukovo checkpoint in Russia's Rostov Region, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Ministry communications policy department Vasyl Zvarych has told a press briefing.

"At the moment 245 servicemen, of them 50 officers, are staying in a military camp near the Gukovo point in Rostov Region. The camp is being guarded by special subunits of the Armed Forces of Russia," he stressed.

Zvarych underlines, investigatory actions are being conducted by the Investigative Committee of Russia regarding all Ukrainian military, they are being interrogated by secret service officers.

He refutes the allegation that the military are seeking asylum in Russia.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, a subunit of 72nd infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine came out into Russia's territory while pushing to the base element.

National Security and Defence Council information centre spokesman Andrii Lysenko says as of 17:00 on August 4, 171 Ukrainian military and 140 border guards were staying in the territory of the Russian Federation.
