09:30 Former President Viktor Yanukovych is marking his 64th birthday on Wednesday, July 9.

Various media from time to time report Yanukovych to be staying now in Moscow, now in Rostov-upon-Don, now in Sotchi (Russian Federation), so it is difficult to find out where the former head of state is celebrating the holiday.

In late February the Verkhovna Rada declared him as a person who had distanced himself from power, and called early presidential election for May 25, which were won by Petro Poroshenko.

Yanukovych occasionally appeared before the public in Rostov-on-Don, where he was giving press conferences, at which he kept calling himself legitimate president.

Meanwhile, law-enforcement agencies put him on the international wanted list, and the Prosecutor-General's Office opened several criminal proceedings against the former President.


12:03 The Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has allowed importation of dairy products produced by Zaporizhia-based Molis enterprise from July 9.

The control over the products of the enterprise was introduced in late April 2014.

Rosselkhoznadzor recently limited importation of cheese produced by two Ukrainian enterprises due to detection of antibiotics.

The Milkiland Group of Companies stresses the decision of the Federal Service on Customers' Rights Protection and Human Well-Being Surveillance (Rospotrebnadzor, Russia) to suspend the dairy import of Milkiland Ukraine's seven enterprises to Russia from July 4 has nothing to do with product quality, the company said in the press-release.


13:35 In June Ukraine imported 329.3 million cubic meters of gas from Europe, an increase of 20% or 67 million cubic meters year on year, data from the central dispatcher department of Ukrtransgas PJSC.

Some 600 million cubic meters of natural gas was imported to the domestic gas transport system over the January-to-June period of 2014, by 100 million cubic meters or 14% less than in H1 2013.

As was reported, Ukraine imported about 214.1 million cubic meters of natural gas by reverse flow via Hungary in June.

Ukraine imported about 104.5 million cubic meters of natural gas by reverse flow via Poland in June.


14:05 Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk counts on allocation of the second tranche worth USD 1.5 billion within the stand-by loan agreement by the International Monetary Fund after the end of work of the Fund's mission.

The prime minister said that on July 9 he will hold another meeting with expert of the IMF mission to discuss the prospects of co-operation.

It is expected that the work of the mission in Ukraine will end on July 9.

After that the Fund will have to take a decision regarding a possibility to allocate the second tranche to the country.

The IMF mission arrived in Ukraine on an official visit on June 24.

In late April, IMF approved the stand-by loan program for Ukraine worth USD 17.01 billion and in early May provided the first tranche of the stand-by loan for USD 3.19 billion.


14:32 The Investigative Committee of Russia has brought charges against Ukrainian officer Nadia Savchenko: aiding and abetting the murder of Russian Federation's journalists, in particular death of two correspondents with the Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), reads a statement made by the Committee press service.

As to the investigation, during the armed hostilities near Luhansk in June Savchenko joined the Aydar battalion and, having got to know coordinates of location of a group of Russian journalists with the VGTRK and other civilians off Luhansk, she handed them over to militants.

Moreover, the Committee opines that a mortar attack was carried out on these coordinates, as a result of which VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin died.

At the moment she is kept in a pre-trial detention centre; in the framework of the criminal case investigators will be finding out the purpose of her arrival in Russia.


16:23 Ukraine does not intend to hold official negotiations with representatives of self-proclaimed Luhansk people's republic (LPR) and Donetsk people's republic (DPR), deputy head of the Presidential Administration Valerii Chalyi has told a briefing.

The deputy head of the Administration noted that Ukraine did its best to settle the situation in the east of the country peacefully, however, there is no adequate response from the side of the separatists.

At the same time, self-proclaimed LPR had expressed readiness to negotiate peaceful settlement of situation with Ukrainian authorities however, at its conditions.


17:13 The Basmanny Court of Moscow, Russia has arrested Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov in absentia, reads a statement made by the Investigative Committee of Russia press service.

"Today the Basmanny District Court of Moscow has considered and satisfied a petition, filed by an investigator with the Investigative Committee of Russia, seeking order of an absent measure of restraint in regard to Ukraine's Internal Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov in the form of placement in custody," the statement said.

It notes, soon the Investigative Committee will give necessary errands to respective law-enforcement agencies for execution of this order.
