Total public debt in February down 0.8% to USD 143.7 billion

The aggregate state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in February, compared to the previous month, decreased by 0.84%, or by USD 121 billion, to USD 143.69 billion.

This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

State and state-guaranteed debt at the end of February amounted to UAH 5,490.1 billion, or USD 143.7 billion, against UAH 5,488.05 billion, or USD 144.9 billion, a month earlier.

The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 5,167.41 billion (USD 135.25 billion) against UAH 5,154.47 billion (USD 136.09 billion) a month earlier.

At the same time, the direct external debt decreased from USD 93.78 billion to USD 93.41 billion for the month.

Direct domestic debt decreased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,602.64 billion to UAH 1,598.39 billion (in dollar equivalent - from USD 42.31 billion to USD 41.83 billion).

The state-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 322.69 billion, or USD 8.45 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the total state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine for 2023 increased by 30.4% or USD 33.87 billion to a record-breaking USD 145.32 billion.

In 2022, the total national debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.

In 2021, the national debt increased by 8.52%, or by USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.

In 2020, the total national debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
