NBU boosts net currency interbank sales twice to USD 263 million March 11-15

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) increased the net sales of currency on the interbank foreign exchange market between March 11 and 15, two times week over week, to USD 262.63 million.

This follows from the data by the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

During the reporting week, the NBU bought USD 0.37 million, while it sold USD 263 million.

The NBU did not buy or sell any currency last week.

Since the beginning of the year, the NBU has bought USD 71.37 million and sold USD 4,567.71 million.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2023, the NBU bought USD 219.85 million on the interbank market and sold USD 28,829.73 million.

The NBU did not buy or sell any currency in 2023.

In 2022, the NBU bought USD 3,267.95 million and 110.97 million euros and sold USD 26,380.59 million and EUR 1,789.11 million.

In 2021, the NBU bought USD 3,690.7 million in the interbank foreign exchange market and sold USD 1,275.7 million.

In 2020, the NBU bought USD 4,929 million in the interbank foreign exchange market and sold USD 3,891 million.

From July 21, the NBU has adjusted the official hryvnia exchange rate by 25% to 36,5686 UAH/USD.

On August 6, 2022, the NBU abolished restrictions, according to which banks and non-banking institutions had to buy cash from the population at a rate not lower than the official.

The NBU allowed banks to sell more currency to the population.

The NBU has been implementing a managed flexibility of the exchange rate since October 3.
