Ukraine takes 23rd place on Worldsteel rating in terms of steel production in 2023

Ukraine took 23rd place in the ranking of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2023.

This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to him, according to the production results in 2023, Ukraine took the 23rd position among 71 steel-producing countries with a result of 6.23 million tons, down 0.6% year over year.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 1,019.08 million tons of steel in 2023, which is 0.11% higher than in 2022.

China's share in world steel production is 55.1%.

The second place belongs to India (production increased by 11.8% to 140.2 million tons), the third place to Japan (decrease by 2.5% to 87 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (increased by 0.16% to 80, 7 million tons), fifth - russia (increased by 5.7% to 75.8 million tons), sixth - South Korea (increased by 1.3% to 66.7 million tons), seventh - Germany (decreased by 3.9% to 35.4 million tons), eighth – Turkiye (decreased by 4% to 33.7 million tons), ninth - Brazil (decreased by 6.5% to 31.9 million tons), tenth - Iran (increased by 1.8% to 31.1 million tons).

World steel production in 2023 was 1,849.73 million tons, down 0.02% year over year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the ranking of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2022.
