German Rheinmetall and Ukroboronprom form joint venture for repair of military equipment
The German defense concern Rheinmetall and Ukrainian Defense Industry have formed a joint venture for the maintenance and repair of equipment transferred to Ukraine by Western partners. It was stated in the message of the Telegram channel of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Tuesday, October 24.
The joint venture of Rheinmetall - Ukrainian Defense Industry LLC was registered on October 18, which Shmyhal announced during the German-Ukrainian Business Forum in Berlin.
"The creation of a joint venture is without exaggeration a significant event that brings cooperation between our countries to a qualitatively new level and will allow us to build an arsenal of the free world together," Shmyhal said.
The joint venture will be engaged in the maintenance and repair of equipment supplied by partners in Ukraine. Also, this enterprise will be localizing the production of leading samples of Rheinmetall AG equipment.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 12, it became known that the German concern Rheinmetall handed over a mobile field hospital worth EUR 9 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In August, Rheinmetall began servicing German-made tanks (Leopard 2 and Leopard 1), which were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by various countries within the framework of military assistance.
On July 10, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said that the German concern Rheinmetall intends to open an armored vehicle factory in Ukraine.
