Ukraine receives USD-1.15-billion grant from United States
On October 11, the state budget of Ukraine received a grant from the United States of America worth USD 1.15 billion through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund of the World Bank.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The funds are part of the fifth additional financing within the framework of the World Bank project Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) Project.
The project is aimed at partial compensation of state budget expenditures, in particular, social and humanitarian expenditures that are not related to the sphere of security and defense. In 2023, Ukraine has already received USD 10.9 billion in direct budget support from the United States in the form of grants.
The involved grant funding is directed to the reimbursement of state budget expenses, in particular to payments under separate programs of state social assistance (for IDPs, persons with disabilities, low-income families, payments of housing and communal subsidies), payments to employees of the State Emergency Service, and wages for employees of state bodies and educational institutions.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the World Bank, implements the PEACE in Ukraine Project and ensures the transparency of the attraction and use of funds provided by development partners.
In cooperation with Deloitte Consulting, which implements the USAID SOERA project, the Ministry of Finance will monitor the use of direct budget support of the US Government and with the auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers Ukraine - an audit according to agreed procedures in order to determine the allowable government expenses spent by Ukraine in 2022 within the framework of the Project.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine publishes detailed information on state budget expenditures in 2022 and the first quarter of 2023, which were compensated by foreign partners, including the United States, as part of the World Bank's PEACE in Ukraine project to increase transparency and accountability of the use of external funding.
On September 21, the state budget of Ukraine received a grant from the United States of America in the amount of USD 1.25 billion through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund of the World Bank.
