Defense Forces succeed on Bakhmut Axis – General Staff

The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation on the Bakhmut, Melitopol, and Berdiansk Axes.

This follows from a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Thus, on the Bakhmut Axis, our troops continue to conduct offensive actions north and south of the city of Bakhmut. On the Bila Gora – Andriyivka Axis, they continued to succeed, being anchored at the achieved milestones.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar, said that the Ukrainian military took control of the dominant heights around Bakhmut, Donetsk Region.

According to the commander of the Ground Forces of the AFU/Colonel-General, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Defense Forces of Ukraine took Bakhmut under complete fire control.

Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesperson for the Eastern Group of Forces, added that in the Bakhmut area, the initiative belongs to the Defense Forces, and there is a partial success. However, the enemy is putting up incredible resistance.

At the same time, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the offensive of the occupiers in the Kupiyansk, Lyman, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka Axes. Russian troops are trying to break through the defense of the AFU and withdraw reserves, but our fighters repulse the attacks.
