Poltava Mayor Mamai Dismissed

The mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Mamai was dismissed from his post.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO), Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The mayor of Poltava was dismissed from his position in compliance with the court's verdict.

On April 4, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HAC) verdict of March 2, 2023 entered into force, by which Mamai was found guilty of organizing the embezzlement of property by abusing his official position, as well as organizing the entry of knowingly false information into official documents.

On April 12, the executive committee of the Poltava City Council dismissed Mamai from his position and issued a work book with a corresponding entry, in accordance with the requirements of the law.

According to the plea agreement, Mamai transferred UAH 2 million to the United 24 Fund for the joint project of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Communications Service and the Ministry of Digital Transformation - Army of Drones.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Poltava mayor Oleksandr Mamai to 5 years in prison for embezzlement, but released him from serving the sentence with a probationary period of 1 year.

The mayor of Poltava will not be able to remain in office, as the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced him to 1 year of conditional imprisonment.
