Farmers sow 4.3 million hectares with winter crops
As of November 8, agricultural enterprises have sown 4.3 million hectares with winter crops for the 2023 harvest.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to it, 90% of the projected area is sown with winter crops.
In particular, 3.6 million hectares (91% of the forecast) were sown with wheat, 568,000 hectares (84%) with barley, and 79,000 hectares (92%) with rye.
During the previous week, 228,000 hectares of winter crops were sown for grain.
According to the report, farmers in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kyiv, Ternopil, and Bukovyna have completed sowing of winter grain crops, while farmers in Zhytomyr, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernihiv are nearing completion.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September, farmers began sowing winter crops.
