Volume Of Trades On PFTS Up 9 Times To UAH 5.5 Billion In August

In August 2022, the total volume of trading on the PFTS stock exchange amounted to UAH 5.5 billion, which is 9 times higher than the results of July 2022, but 4 times worse than the results of trading in August 2021.

This is stated in the data of PFTS, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The main reason for the growth compared to July is the resumption of trading in all securities admitted to trading on PFTS.

If from March 2 to August 5, 2022 PFTS concluded transactions exclusively with war bonds of government domestic loan, then starting from August 8, PFTS also concluded exchange-traded contracts with ordinary government domestic loan bonds, government foreign loan bonds of Ukraine, municipal bonds, corporate bonds, shares of Ukrainian and foreign issuers.

In the trading structure for August, the share of government bonds amounted to 99.2% (government domestic loan bonds - 80%, war government bonds - 18.9%, government foreign loan bonds - 0.3%), municipal bonds - 0.3%, shares of foreign issuers - 0.3%, corporate bonds - 0.1%, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 0.01%).

In the "market of applications" 11% of transactions were concluded, in the "market of quotations" (including address agreements) - 89% of transactions.

In January-August 2022, the total volume of trading on PFTS amounted to UAH 58.5 billion, or 50% of the total volume of trading organizers of securities trading in Ukraine.

In August, 30 bidders at PFTS entered into transactions with 34 issues of securities (government domestic loan bonds - 26, government foreign loan bonds - 4, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 1, corporate bonds - 1, municipal bonds - 1, shares of foreign issuers - 1).

In January-August 2022, 46 bidders entered into transactions with 79 issues of securities (government domestic loan bonds - 50, government foreign loan bonds - 9, shares of Ukrainian issuers - 6, corporate bonds - 8, municipal bonds - 3, shares of foreign issuers - 2, bonds of foreign issuers - 1).

Among the 26 issues of government bonds with which transactions were concluded in August, there were 7 issues with a maturity date in 2022 (UAH 1.4 billion), 13 issues with a maturity date in 2023 (UAH 3.2 billion), 3 issues with a maturity date in 2024 (UAH 0.3 billion), and 1 issue with maturity dates in 2025 (UAH 0.7 billion), 2026 (UAH 0.002 billion) and 2027 (UAH 0.09 billion) each.

Since July 26, the PFTS has begun trading in foreign currency denominated government domestic loan bonds.

In August, three exchange-traded contracts with US dollar denominated government bonds worth USD 0.62 million were concluded in denomination currency.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the PFTS stock exchange is one of the largest organizers of securities trading in Ukraine.

The PFTS index has been the official index of Ukraine in S&P Emerging Markets since 1997.
