Ukraine retains 21st position on Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in 7M
In the first seven months of 2022, Ukraine retained the 21st place in the rating of the international association Worldsteel by the volume of steel production.
That follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurhprom association, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the results of production in the first seven months of 2022, Ukraine occupies the 21st position among 64 countries - producers of steel with a result of 4.82 million tons, down 2.6 times year over year.
The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 609.28 million tons in 7 months, which is 6.4% less than in the same period of 2021.
China's share in world steel production is 55.3%.
Second place belongs to India (the production increased by 8% to 73.3 million tons), third place to Japan (it decreased by 4.9% to 53.3 million tons), fourth place to the United States (it decreased by 3% to 48 million tons ), the fifth - Russia (the production decreased by 7% to 41.4 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (the production decreased by 3.4% to 39.9 million tons), the seventh - Germany (the production decreased by 5.1% to 22.5 million tons), eighth – Turkiye (the production decreased by 6.9% to 21.6 million tons), ninth - Brazil (the production decreased by 3.5% to 20.3 million tons), and the tenth place belongs to Iran (the production decreased by 3.7% to 17.4 million tons).
World steel production in the first seven months of 2022 amounted to 1,102.31 million tons, down 5.38% year over year.
As Ukrainian News reported, Ukraine took 14th place in the Worldsteel ranking in terms of steel production in 2021 with a result of 21.37 million tons, which is 3.6% more than in 2020.
