Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 27.4% To 5,583, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 13.7% To 241 On January 20

On January 20, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 5,583 over January 19 to 1,177,621, and the number of deaths increased by 241 over January 19 to 21,499; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 27.4%, and the number of new lethal cases rose by 13.7%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as at the morning of January 21, there were 1,177,621 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 21,499 lethal cases; besides, 914,730 people had recovered.

On January 20, a total of 5,583 new cases of the disease were recorded, 241 people died, and 13,981 people recovered.

Therefore, as at January 20, the indicator of those, who recovered was higher than the number of newly-infected people (13,981 vs 5,583).

As at the morning of January 21, the overall number of those, who are staying ill with the Covid-19 (less the recovered and died) made 241,392, down 3.5% over January 20.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (124,835), Odesa region (79,456), and Kharkiv region (75,670).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 68,224 coronavirus infection cases, Kyiv region – 66,949; Dnipropetrovsk region – 65,210 cases, Zaporizhia region – 63,273, Ivano-Frankivsk region – 45,813, Sumy region – 44,809, Rivne region – 44,569, Cherkasy region - 44,492, Chernivtsi region – 43,583, Zhytomyr region – 43,034, Khmelnytskyi region – 42,801, and Donetsk region – 42,479.

A total of 41,788 cases have been registered in Poltava region, 37,177 cases – in Mykolayiv region, 36,532 cases - in Ternopil region, 35,721 cases - in Volyn region, 32,842 cases – in Chernihiv region, 30,160 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 25,437 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 19,976 cases – in Kherson region, 13,306 – in Luhansk region, and 9,485 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 19, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 4,383 over January 18 to 1,172,038, and the number of deaths increased by 212 over January 18 to 21,258; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 11.3%, and the number of new lethal cases rose by 19.8%.

On January 18, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 3,939 over January 17 to 1,167,655, and the number of deaths increased by 177 over January 17 to 21,046; at the same time, the number of new cases rose by 29.8%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 2.6 times.
