Number Of PCR-Tests Up 7.5% To 36,457, Number Of ELISA Down 6.5% To 26,674 On October 22 – Health Ministry

On October 22, a total of 36,457 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, up 7.5% over October 21; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) decreased by 6.5% over October 21 to 26,674.

Health Minister, Maksym Stepanov, has said this at a briefing, the Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Since the start of the year, a total of 2,950,463 polymerase chain reaction tests have been conducted.

As at the morning of October 23, the virology laboratory of the Public Health Center under the Health Ministry of Ukraine had received a total of 8,050 reports on suspicion of the Covid-19.

Since the start of the year, the number of such reports has made 402,007.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 21, a total of 33,901 polymerase chain reaction tests (PCR) were conducted, up 3.6% over October 20; and the number of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) decreased by 5.4% over October 20 to 28,517.

On October 22, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine increased by 7,517 over October 21 to 330,396, and the number of deaths rose by 121 over October 21 to 6,164; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 6.6%, and the number of new lethal cases increased by 4.3%.

According to the report, as at the morning of October 23, there were 330,396 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine, the number included 6,164 lethal cases; besides, 137,578 people had recovered.

During the day, 7,517 new cases of the disease were recorded, 2,680 people recovered, 121 people died.

Therefore, on October 22, the indicator of newly-infected people was higher than the number of those, who recovered (7,517 vs 2,680).

As at the morning of October 23, the number of the active sick (less those, who have recovered and died) was 186,654, up 2.6% day over day.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (33,135), Kharkiv region (31,592), and Lviv region (26,399).
