Avakov Gifts 113 Timepieces Worth UAH 199,900, Poltorak - 347 Timepieces Worth UAH 674,900 In 2017

Minister of the Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov in 2017 presented as a gift 113 timepieces worth UAH 199,900, while Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak gifted 347 timepieces for the total of UAH 674,900.

The Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from statements provided by the ministries in response to the Ukrainian News' requests.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said in the statement that in 2017 it awarded 113 individuals with precious gifts (including wrist watches) purchased with the state funds for the total of UAH 199,900.

The Ministry of Defense said in 2017 its head Poltorak awarded 347 militaries from the Armed Forces of Ukraine with timepieces of the total value of UAH 674,900.

Both the Ministry of the Interior and the Defense Ministry responded negatively to a question about whether in 2017 they received any gifts presented to the state or the ministry that should be transferred to the Government Museum or kept in a state body to which they had been gifted.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Defense reduced the number of gun awards to only military and only one per year.
