Former President's Bodyguard: No Assassination Attempts On Yanukovych Made In February 2014
There were no assassination attempts made on former president Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014.
Member of the staff of the State Guard Service Viktor Reznychenko said this at the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Reznychenko testified before court that on February 21-23, 2014 he was accompanying Yanukovych as he ran from Ukraine.
In particular, Reznychenko testified that to the best of his knowledge there were no plans of assassination of then President Yanukovych.
At the same time, Reznychenko said that a car of one of Yanukovych's bodyguards named Ivantsov had come under gunfire as it was leaving Kyiv on February 2014.
A bullet shot through the driver's door and smacked at a gun case of the bodyguard.
Having said that Reznychenko stressed that the car which had been gunned at had never been used for transportation of Yanukovych.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Reznychenko told the court that three Russian warplanes picked Yanukovych somewhere in Zaporizhia region and flown him to Crimea, on February 22-23, 2014.
On August 10, 2017, the court started hearing in substance the high treason case against Yanukovych.
