NBU Not To Issue Own Cryptocurrency

The National Bank of Ukraine does not intend to issue own cryptocurrency.

Press service of the central bank has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, the NBU is studying modern innovative technologies and considering wide range of opportunities for their application in the future, in particular, within the framework of the Cashless economy project.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, late in 2016, the central bank started examination of e-hryvnia introduction, local currency based on the blockchain technology.
