Poroshenko To Bring To Verkhovna Rada Candidate For NBU Governor Before October

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko intends to bring to the Verkhovna Rada a candidate for the post of the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine before October.

Verkhovna Rada member Iryna Lutsenko from the faction of the Solidarity Bloc of Petro Poroshenko, the representative of the President at the parliament, announced this live on the Fifth Channel in the evening of August 28, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"There are two candidates. They are bankers independent from any political influence," she said.

She refused to name the candidates.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Valeria Hontareva the governor of the National Bank of Ukraine in June 2014.

NBU governor Hontareva has tendered resignation.

She took vacation on May 11. Hontareva is on vacation without pay August 8 - September 26.

NBU first deputy governor Yakiv Smolii has been acting governor of the central bank of Ukraine since May 11.
