Court Postpones Hearing Of Yanukovych's Case On Merits Until August 3

The Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv has postponed on merits hearing of the case against former president Viktor Yanukovych accused of high treason until August 3, 10 a.m.

Head Judge Vladyslav Deviatko has announced the court's ruling, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Thus the court upheld the motion from state attorney Vitalii Meshechek who was assigned to Yanukovych and requested more time to familiarize with the materials of the case.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 5, Yanukovych waived services of his defense team Viktor Serdiuk and Ihor Fedorenko.

On July 6, the Obolonskyi District Court decided to assign a free-of-charge state lawyer to Yanukovych.

The Kyiv Regional Center for Free-of-Charge Secondary Legal Help assigned state lawyer Vitalii Meshechek to represent Yanukovych defense in court.
