Poroshenko Promises To Approve Ukraine's NATO Course

President Petro Poroshenko promises to sign the law that will formalize in legislation the priority of Ukraine's membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The President of Ukraine said this at a joint press conference with President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The President stressed that criteria required for membership of the European Union have much in common with those required for the membership of NATO.

In turn, President Grybauskaite said that most of reforms implemented in Ukraine for European integration are also needed for the membership of NATO.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine amended the Laws of Ukraine On Fundamentals Of Internal And External Policy and On Fundamentals Of National Security in order to formalize the priority of Ukraine's membership of NATO in the legislation.
