Prydniprovska TPP Suspends Operation To Accumulate Coal Reserves

Prydniprovska thermal power plant (Dnipropetrovsk Region), which is incorporated in the DTEK Dniproenergo, has suspended, like the Trypilska thermal power plant in Kyiv region, operation to accumulate its coal reserves.

DTEK Energy announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Due to the blockade of coal supplies from Donbas the DTEK Prydniprovska thermal power plant was shut down at 0.00 a.m. today," reads the statement.

The statement reads that the Prydniprovska thermal power plant had close to 30,000 tons of coal on April 5, 2017.

The period will be used to accumulate coal reserves and to perform repair works.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 5, 2017, the Trypilska thermal power plant in Kyiv region, which is incorporated in the Centrenergo state energy-generating company, suspended operation on Wednesday to economize anthracite coal.

The Prydniprovska thermal power plant is part of DTEK energy group. It is located on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The design capacity of the thermal power plant is 1,765 mW.
